Assess Your Path to a Resident Visa

If you’re working in a skilled job, you may be eligible for residence under different pathways. Your eligibility depends on your role, salary and work experience.

Skilled Migrant Resident (SMR) visa

  • Requires working in a Green List role with sufficient time and experience.

Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) visa

  • Requires you meet the points threshhold to be able to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for residence. Points can be claimed for:
    • Qualifications
    • Years of skilled work experience in New Zealand (title, job description and earning the skilled wage rate wage)
    • Earning 1.5x or more above the median wage

Why a Residence Visa Pathway Assessment is Crucial

Your residence eligibility depends on your personal situation and INZ’s array of rules.  To avoid risks, engage with a FRENZ Licensed immigration Adviser, who will apply their experience and expertise for:

  • A detailed review of your situation
  • Clarity on current eligibility
  • Guidance on improving future eligibility
  • A follow-up session to discuss options & answer questions.

INZ will also look at:

  • Accredited Employer Work Visa (with exceptions)
  • Personal characteristics (<55 age at application)
  • Work experience
