Production Fitter
Skilled fitter/turner wanted to join a top team building world-class tankers. Full-time role for someone with initiative and pride in their work.
ABOUT THE ROLE…
The day-to-day duties in this role include:
- Carry out installation of components as required on equipment as directed.
- Carry out fabrication of components as required on equipment as directed.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections.
- Undertake repairs and modifications as assigned.
- Ensure all machines are safe and fit for purpose.
- Installation of new machines and equipment.
- Overhaul, upkeep and repair of all plant machines onsite.
- Review and Advise on Engineering requirements and drawings.
- Actively engage in and promote safe working practices.
- Work with and Coordinate Contractors.
- Undertake fabrication, installation, repairs and servicing to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications.
- Fault Finding, testing, and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures and parts.
- Where a detailed specification is not provided, determine the cause of the fault and then undertake the most cost effective solution to remedy the defect.
- Effective Communication – keeping Management and relevant parties aware and seeking advice and assistance when required.
- Any other duty as may be required commensurate with the grading of the post and the skill of the post holder.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Required: a formal qualification in the relevant trade and at least 4 years’ experience as a Fitter/Turner or similar.
- Required: have work experience in the maintenance of vehicles and/or plant equipment.
- Required: have experience installing, overhauling an repairing pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics etc.
- Required: have knowledge and experience operating a wide range of general workshop machines and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills – must have a good standard of English both written and verbal.
- Excellent decision-making skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative and with low level supervision.
- A knowledge of general motor/diesel mechanics, mechanical fitting, hydraulics and pneumatics would be considered advantageous.
These are not requirements but would be advantageous if you have any of the following:
- Lathes/milling machines
- Experience with MIG/TIG welding machines
- Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic test rigs
- Experience with environmental gas testing
- HGV truck and trailer driver’s license with DG conversion.
